Annual Traditions Build Community
Traditions. Done right, they bring individuals together to create shared experiences.
Done right, they help shape the rhythm and culture of a community. Done right, these highly anticipated annual gatherings create lasting memories
Yep, we’re big on annual celebrations that uniquely define a community. The sort of “can’t-be-missed-celebrations” that neighbors not only look forward to, they block out their calendar months in advance and they talk about it for years to come.
For the Verrado community – a community that Cohere (formerly DMB Community Life) has managed from its founding – that annual tradition is Founder’s Day. This unique event celebrates the distinct people and experiences that define life in Verrado, creating shared experiences and connections between neighbors.
Verrado’s Founder’s Day Celebrates 14 Years
For 14 years and counting, Verrado residents look forward to Founder’s Day. So much so that plans are adjusted to allow friends and family to travel from near and far to participate in this special, uniquely Verrado, weekend-long experience.
It begins with dancing, mingling and sipping under the stars on Friday evening. To get the juices flowing, the fun continues on Saturday morning with a series of fun and competitive walk/runs throughout the community, followed by a pancake breakfast to support Verrado’s Giving Tree charitable partners.
By far the most anticipated event is the Saturday Night Block Party. Main Street is alive with family-friendly games and activities. Some seriously talented performances warm up the crowd in the Resident Variety Show. And then the headliner takes the stage. IN 2019, 3,000+ residents and their guests enjoyed the chart-topping sounds of En Vogue.
In years past, Rick Springfield, Rachel Platten, Steven Page, Sugar Ray, Berlin, Andy Grammer, The Romantics, Spin Doctors, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, The Beach Boys, Blues Traveler, Train and B-52’s have taken the stage.
Sunday ends with family friendly traditions and resident-led competitions at the Community Picnic including the renowned community-wide photo (it grows every year!) and the BBQ Rib, Chili Cook-Off, and Bean Bag Toss competitions.
And that’s a wrap on the not-to-be-missed annual celebration that is uniquely Verrado, Founder’s Day. Save for the memories.
