Blossom Rock

Engagement

There’s no doubt collective experiences are the cornerstone of community. Some of the most cherished moments happen when people gather, and the value of togetherness is even more evident today.

When renowned place maker, Brookfield Residential, invited our Cohere team to help shape the community life plans for Blossom Rock at Superstition Vistas, we jumped right in.

Their 1,400-acre master-planned community is emerging in Apache Junction, Ariz. (about 45 minutes east of Phoenix) with the stunning Superstition Mountains in clear view.

As the dirt turns and the built environment is formed, our team has been tasked with drawing up blueprints for the signature events and celebrations that will animate the Blossom Rock brand pillars and inspire residents to find purpose, live authentically, and thrive, together. It’s what we like to call ‘the secret sauce’ of the community.

“I think one of the big advantages of us working in close collaboration with our developer partners is that we have the opportunity to be at the table from the beginning, participating in shaping the vision of what the community will ultimately become,” says Suzanne Walden-Wells, Cohere chief engagement officer.

Brookfield Residential has laid out brand pillars for Blossom Rock that signify the lifestyle and look of this growing place: Inspired Outdoor Adventure, Superstition Mountain Theater, Enriched Living, Transformative Ranch. These pillars reflect both the Developer’s passion for crafting incredible neighborhoods and their commitment to stakeholder expectations.

As cultivators of community, Cohere has the know-how to bring these brand pillars to life in meaningful, approachable ways. We’re the dreamers and the doers who can lift the Developer’s vision and marketing messages off the page and turn them into reality.

Before we start the event planning, we sketch out a profile of the place. What’s the story of the land? Who are the people living in the area? What’s the culture? What defines the geography? What are the popular pastimes?

With the Blossom Rock brand pillars as the backbone, we dive into all aspects of the place so we can see, feel, and imagine what might be possible.

“We learn a lot about the community through conversations, questions, and really thinking about what sets it apart and what residents will want to experience,” says Trish Robinson, Cohere executive director.

With a spectacular setting, thoughtfully designed parks, and an extensive trail system, the outdoors will be a big part of life at Blossom Rock, and we’re designing events and celebrations to complement that vibe.

“We’ll talk with the developer about the positioning of the outdoor amenities – like pavilions, stages, and seating areas – so  that a neighbor can be in one of the parks and have an eye shot of the sunset against the Superstition Mountains,” says Suzanne. “Seemingly small decisions can be absolute game changers that transform a park excursion into a celebration of natural beauty.”

The events will likely evolve (and new ones will take shape) as residents share their passions and perspectives. But what will remain steadfast are the benefits of creating a cohesive place that strengthens the community’s identity and sense of pride. It’s the idea that this is our home and we’re all in this together, so let’s celebrate that.

With a strong draw to the outdoors, the signature events will embrace Blossom Rock’s setting via fall harvest parties, music and art festivals highlighting local artists, al fresco family-style culinary experiences, seasonal wildflower walks and community hiking events, and celebrations of neighborhood milestones. We’re also staying mindful of opportunities to welcome in the extended community to share in the beauty of the space. And we’ll lean into the notable American West background of Apache Junction by incorporating historical theater and storytelling experiences. These events will be replicable, scalable, and set the rhythm for life in Blossom Rock from the very start.

When there’s authentic, meaningful engagement, the effects are neighborhoods that outpace others in sustainability, value, and desirability. It’s why at Cohere we put great value on building connection and community. It’s good for the value of the place, it supports the physical and mental health of the people living there, and it builds a collective sense of purpose. And oh by the way, it’s also a whole lot of fun.
