Kissing Tree

Communications

Kissing Tree is a 55 and better active adult community in the heart of Texas Hill Country. The 1,300-acre gated-community lands at the center point of Austin and San Antonio, in the town of San Marcos. There’s no lack of views, brews, and barbecues here, not to mention an incredible collection of indoor and outdoor amenities to keep residents as active as they want to be.

The digital hub for life at Kissing Tree is kissingtreeresidents.org. When Cohere came on board with the community, their old site wasn’t quite meeting resident and staff needs, so we took stock, consulted with stakeholders, mapped a plan, and embarked on creating a new and more user-friendly digital experience for Kissing Tree residents to engage and connect.

Cohere’s unique digital approach allows the flexibility to build an intuitive website that accommodates the distinct needs of the community for which it’s being built. Through more than a decade of software vetting — which our team continues as emerging platforms are developed — we’ve found that there isn’t an out-of-the-box digital solution that comprehensively solves for the messiness of community.

Instead, our expert in-house team crafted a best-in-class digital solution that allows feature customization to be added as needed per community. Our digital tools put user experience at the forefront, while meeting a community’s needs online and in real-time.

“One of the key things we did was work with Kissing Tree staff to bring their offline processes online,” says Jennea Bono, Cohere senior digital communications manager. “Converting paper forms to online tools was a huge process relief for the on-ground team that helped them better support resident engagement. And having online forms with extensive conditional logic made it super easy for residents to navigate life in their community from both their desktop and their mobile device.”

The residents who call Kissing Tree home have a wealth of experience but may not feel fully at ease working with all digital platforms, so we took that into consideration when customizing their site.

We implemented a simple-to-navigate online calendar with several categorized views to promote Kissing Tree’s 100+ monthly activities, from gardening club get togethers to Mahjong meet ups.

Our intuitive event registration tools support multiple ticket types, customizable registration forms, and targeted emails and texts, so events like the Fourth of July Golf Cart Parade and the Pickleball Invitational can be easily managed by Community Life staff.

The addition of an online reservation system with real-time inventory management and online payments, allows residents to easily reserve a spot at yoga or a gathering space through the website right from home or while on the go.

Kissing Tree’s online resident directory is another instrument for community building. Whether a resident wants to plan a potluck or help find a lost pup’s home, they now have an easily searchable way to connect with neighbors.

We also added email marketing tools to Kissing Tree’s digital portfolio. They allow our team to send regular, targeted, branded email updates to resident inboxes so they can stay in the loop on operations and engagement news.

Whether you want a robust site full of customization or a simpler version that keeps site build costs to a minimum, our in-house team are experts in designing, developing, and maintaining best-in-class digital tools that meet the requests and budget considerations of the developers and residents we serve.

We embrace the opportunity to work with developer marketing teams to sustain the community vision, value, and esteem — part of our process is to customize site styling and email templates to match community brand standards.

“The community website is an important asset of the residential association. The community is making a long-term investment to enhance communications and engagement for residents that supports our shared goal of enriching lives today and into the future,” says Jennifer McSweeney, Cohere director of communications.

Cohere staff collaborates with board members, resident leaders, and external vendors to identify expectations, opportunities, and challenges. We continue to vet a wide range of products, apps, and tools that can stand-alone or integrate into our digital presence to accommodate community needs. And we regularly report analytics to show the efficacy of our digital approach.

Our methods for community management are unique, and life in our communities is robust and diverse, so we’ve identified and perfected the best mix of digital tools needed to manage our distinct business processes, and those of our community partners and stakeholders.
