Our real estate origins

Cohere’s story is rooted in real estate: Established in 1997 as part of the esteemed development company DMB Associates. With decades of experience shaping places where people live, connect, and thrive, we pioneered an approach that puts intentional community building at the center of neighborhood design and management.

Over time, that approach became something distinctive — shaping the social fabric of communities in ways that support resident well-being and leave a lasting legacy for our partners.

Our Approach

Company milestones

1997

Founded as part of DMB Associates in Scottsdale, Arizona.

2004

Began managing Verrado — our first master-planned community — in Buckeye, Arizona.

2007

Codified Cohere’s Community Building Model™, a proprietary approach to social infrastructure and resident wellbeing.

2018

Became an independent company, DMB Community Life.

2019

Expanded to California. Began managing Delta Coves in Bethel Island.

2019

Started metro district management at Inspiration Metropolitan District in Aurora, Colorado.

2020

Expanded into Texas with Easton Park and Kissing Tree, bringing our Community Building Model to the South Central region.

2022

Became Cohere, a clear brand that truly reflects our purpose and our uniqueness.

2025

Named one of Arizona’s Most Admired Companies for demonstrating excellence in leadership, workplace culture, social responsibility, and customer experience.

2025

Proved the impact of our Community Building Model in our first Cohere Community Impact Report, original research demonstrating measurable wellbeing outcomes across master-planned communities.
